Flying Fifteen GTI Regatta at Holy Loch Sailing Club

by John Orr 14 Sep 2009 16:19 BST 12-13 September 2009

18 Classic and Silver FFs came to Holy Loch to bask in the sunshine, have a few beers and race 4 competitive races over the weekend of 12th/13th September.

Visitors from Monklands, Bute and Loch Earn joined the home fleet for a hard fought 4 fleet series. Favourites Bobby Salmond (Vamoose) and John McMillan (Gilmac) each spoiled their chances by missing marks in separate races.

Two opposing Clyde sailmakers (Graeme Campbell on the tiller, Graham Galbraith on everything else allegedly) joined forces to win the FF class and overall GTI Regatta trophy with consistent speed in the light airs.

Iain Sinclair and Bernie Mc Ilvogue brought home local boat Nae Ffear in second place whilst third place belonged to Jim and Frances Maclean in the infamous Woffle.

This clyde regatta is now a well established FF event and with the Holy Loch Marina again supporting the weekend with free launching, overnighting and recovery it’s one not to be missed!
