Entries sought for 47th Governor's Cup

The oldest junior match racing championship, the Governor’s Cup, will take place at Balboa Yacht Club July 16-21, 2013. The Governor’s Cup has many alumni who have gone on to be victorious in sailing competitions around the world, including the America's Cup and the World Match Race Tour

The Governor's Cup committee is currently soliciting entries from both the United States and abroad for the 47th year of the event. Past participant teams have come from Australia, New Zealand, England, Brazil, Finland, Spain, Sweden, Ireland and Bermuda.

Teams must consist of a skipper and two crews. No competitor may have reached his or her twenty first birthday before the first day of the regatta on July 16, 2013. Balboa Yacht Club’s selection committee will select final invitees from among clubs submitting a complete Request for Invitation package by Friday May 24, 2013. More details are available in the application materials.
