TeamOrigin took their new training boat ‘GBR 75’ on a test sail in Valencian waters this week-end with technical and shore team members of the Alinghi and TeamOrigin team as part of the handover process (formerly SUI 75).

Mike Sanderson was there to oversee the test sail for the two days before the boat gets packed up and sent to the UK.
There was a mix of sailors/support people onboard to assist with this test sail.

Whilst out sailing, GBR 75 took the opportunity to line up against the replica yacht ‘America’ which was in Valencia for the 32nd America’s Cup Match.

The replica ‘America’ is a copy of the yacht that won the very first race around the Isle of Wight back in 1851, beating all of Queen Victoria’s fleet to win the ‘Hundred Guineas trophy’ which was subsequently re-named the
‘America’s Cup’ after the name of the yacht that won it.

TeamOrigin plans to enter the 33rd and 34th America’s Cup in a bid to bring the ‘Auld Mug’ back to British shores from where it first started.
