Latest video from Team Alvimedica as the crew abandon Team Vestas Wind and the coastguard come alongside at dawn to effect the rescue.
Team Vestas Wind hit the Cargados Carajos Shoals off Mauritius at a speed of 20kts, ripping off both rudders and driving the boat high on the coral reef.
The crew all transferred to liferafts during the night and were picked up at dawn by the local coastguard under direction from fellow Volvo Ocean race competitor, Team Alvimedica, who stood by until the coastguard arrived in an open boat.
