18 footers Mark Foy Trophy - USA rising but Brits hold lead

by Sail-World.com on 4 Jul 2009
Greenhalgh (GBR) holds lead in Carnac Christophe Favreau http://christophefavreau.photoshelter.com/
Three races today for international fleet of 18 footers competing for the inaugural Mark Foy Trophy, out of the Carnac Yacht Club on Quiberon Bay in France.

Britain’s Rob Greenhalgh continued in style with a first up win in race 7 ahead of a fellow Brit, Mason Woodworth’s Investec team, in third place was John Winning Jnr’s Appliance (AUS).

Race 8, it was Australia’s Grant Rollerson and his SLAM team ahead of Howie Hamlin (USA) and Andy Richards (GBR) Pindar.

Race 9, Hamlin stormed to his first race win of the Mark Foy series, with Greenhalgh second and Jon Whitty (AUS) aboard Panasonic third.

Yesterday it seemed that Rollerson could snatch back the series lead once the second drop came in but a 13,1,5 result today, compared to series leader's Rob Greenhalgh 1,6,2, means that dream is fading.

More news from Carnac as soon as it comes to hand.
