34th Nacra Nationals, Day 1 - Blown Out

Hervey Bay Sailing Club is playing host to the 34th Nacra Catamaran National titles. Racing was set to start at 13:30 on Sunday afternoon, however racing was abandoned for the day before any boats hit the water. The compressed wind gradient between the mid-latitude highs and Tropical Cyclone Freda in the Coral Sea, saw a strong wind warning issued over the race course.

Shortly after the noon competitors meeting, race officers and class officials went out to the race course to inspect conditions. With sustained winds around 24knots and gust reaching 30knots, the decision was made to leave the 60 boats ashore.

Racing is set to continue over from Monday to Friday, with Tuesday set as a lay day.
