Yachtshare Open Day launches new catamaran

by Imprint Media on 18 Feb 2011
The Seawind 1000XL is an ideal family boat for sailing on Moreton Bay. - Yachshare Open Day Seawind Catamarans
Syndicated yacht ownership pioneer Yachtshare will hold an Open Day at the Wynnum Manly Yacht Club Marina on March 6 to introduce boating enthusiasts to its new Seawind catamaran.

A syndicate allows a group of people to share the cost of owning and maintaining a luxury yacht and to share in its use on an equitable basis.

The Manly-based company will display a new Seawind 1000XL catamaran to be based at Manly, offering owners immediate access to Moreton Bay and the islands.

CEO Barry Pares said the boat will be fully serviced, fully maintained and fully managed on behalf of owners.

'We are offering 10 shares in the new boat,' he said. 'It includes four cabins and an enclosed bathroom. The saloon and cockpit combine into one large living and entertainment area with enough room to sail with up to 22 people aboard. Even the saloon table converts into a huge king-size bed.

'All our boats offer the ultimate in cruising luxury with premium walk-on walk-off services. They include everything you need for pleasure cruising – galley utensils, glassware, crockery and cutlery for up to eight people; even a hair dryer!'

Mr Pares said that new share opportunities would also be available this year in two of the company’s monohull Jeanneau luxury cruisers.

'These boats are in perfect condition and the current owners have enjoyed years of exciting and trouble-free yachting,' he said. 'Some of the owners are moving on and their shares have become available.'

Yachtshare owners retain equity in their vessels which means that they share the proceeds when their boat is sold after a three-year ownership period.

Owners are assured of equitable use of their boat through an online calendar. They nominate the day or days they wish to use their boat by simply ticking the days on their calendar. Special dates such as public holidays are shared equally between owners over the three-year term.

'Even novice boaties can live the dream,' said Mr Pares. 'We offer full personalised training as well as 24/7 on-water assistance. Owners share running costs of the boat and we offer invitations to social functions and yachting events throughout the year.'

A share in the Seawind 1000XL is priced at $48,500 plus $750 per month ongoings. Shares in the Jeanneau’s cost $25,000 plus $650 per month in ongoing costs.

Mr Pares said the monthly costs cover outgoings such as regular maintenance, insurance and berthing.

The Yachtshare Open Day is on Sunday, March 6, from 9 am to midday at the Wynnum Manly Yacht Club Marina, Royal Esplanade in Manly. For more details, phone Wayne Woodward on 0438 722 888.
