The whole of the superyacht world is looking to Asia as the next great cruising ground and organisers are seeing a steady growth of yachts in the region. As more superyachts are attracted to the region and to the fun and festive event, an invitation is extended by the organiser to power and sail vessels over 30 meters LOA (100’ in length) to come aboard for the event held during the festive Christmas holidays, December 16-18, 2010.
Good news for many superyacht captains and owners is the expansion of the event, moving from two days to three. For the first time there will be two days of racing events - with sailing vessels accompanied by attending motor yachts. Organisers Gordon Fernandes, GM of Asia Pacific Superyachts and Charlie Dwyer, Captain of the Yannekee Too, comment, 'It’s not often that you get motor boat owners mixing with sail boat owners! The three days will be filled with camaraderie and fun, starting with the opening sunset cocktail party aboard the beautiful sailing yacht, Silolona'.
